In 1988, Dee Dee and his Bel Airs went from zero to one hundred as a neo rock-a-billy band in no time at all!

Their first LP Rock-a-billy Boogie Tonight was a hit and they played all the popular festivals in Europe and England.  During this time, they also accompanied numerous rock 'n' roll stars: Bill Haley's original Comets, Carl Perkins, Gene Vincent's Blue Caps, Tommy Sands, Frankie Ford, Buddy Knox, Janis Martin, Wanda Jackson, and Brenda Lee... far too many to name them all.

After a while, the vocal group known as ‘Harmony Five’ joined Dave Dee and the band and the repertoire now leaned more towards to Doo Wop and Jive, thus increasing the band’s popularity.

Then in the mid-1990s, Dee Dee and the band wanted to explore new horizons and experimented with influences from the young ‘Neo Swing’ movement. The band’s third album, Night Out in Bel Air, exploded like a bomb ... and included titles like ‘Scat The Swing’, ‘California Moon’ and their version of the Elvis classic ‘Viva Las Vegas’ stormed the MP3-charts and download lists worldwide!

Now, Dee Dee and his band are back on stage and this time they have an eye on the jump blues of the late 1940s and early 1950s.

The energy and enthusiasm these gentlemen bring to the stage makes even some young bands look OLD.  Dee Dee’s performance  sets the stage on fire and the dancers' soles are smoking on the dance floor... How beautiful life can be!

After a few initial tours, which included some major concerts, the guys decided to enter the studio and record once again.   However, in order to capture the energy and dynamics of live performances, they recorded everything LIVE in the studio.  They played the songs as many times as they needed to until they were completely satisfied with the result.  There was no overdubbing at all (they just copied the way stars recorded in the 1950s).

Also, to get as close as possible to their ideal sound, they brought in Christian Krüger from Moonshine Recording Studios.  He equipped the band with 1950s’ recording studio equipment in their recording studio (Highline Studio). The sound engineer, Frenzy Erl – who is also the owner of Highline Studios - perfectly combined the old recording techniques with his modern day studio equipment!

The result is a sound that is powerful and impressive but which also exudes a genuine vintage charm – fully justifying the band’s efforts.
