Die Voxpoppers waren ein Quintett aus New York City und haben Instrumentals und Doo Wop Lieder für Firmen wie Poplar und Amp-3 aufgenommen. Für die letztgenannte nahmen sie „Wishing For Your Love“ auf und als die Platte häufig in Radio gespielt wurde, übernahm die größere Plattenfirma Mercury den Song und Gruppe. Nachdem der Song in die Top 20 der US Charts kam folgen weitere lokale Erfolge und Platten auf Mercury und Warwick, bevor sich die Gruppe Anfang der 1960er auflöste. Einige ihrer Musiker hatten bereits bei einer anderen Gruppe The Bellhops mit ihrem Lead Sänger Larry Bene mitgespielt. The Bellhops begannen 1956, bevor sie ein Jahr später The Voxpoppers wurden, und nahmen nicht nur Doo Wop Songs auf, sondern zeigten ihr Talent auf verschiedenen Instrumenten und tanzbarem Rock ´n´ roll Recordings. The Voxpoppers was a quintet (including saxophone, accordion, guitar, bass and drums) from New York City, and had earlier recorded both instrumentals and vocal ballads for such labels as Poplar and Amp-3. They cut “wishing For Your Love” for the latter label and when it received airplay, the larger Mercury Records picked up distribution and the single reached the US top 20. A few more local success followed and they continued to record for Mercury and Warwick but disappeared in the early 1960s. Some of their musicians originated in another vocal group The Bellhops with their lead singer Larry Bene.
